2001 TXT PDS Limp Mode
Hello, I will try to set the stage here as best i can recall.
I have followed numerous procedures I have found on this forum, the have been very descriptive and useful but Im still stuck. Stock controller / motor, etc. Basically the cart won't go over less than walking speed. I have validated the speed sensor is working by pushing the cart while in Run and i get the Walk away alarm beeps. When in diag mode it throws out a 3 / 2 code then a 2 / 4 code both point to the solenoid, which i have replaced with a new one from an ez go dealer and I still get the same behavior and same codes. I have follow JonnieB's troubleshooting of testing the various pins on J1 , J3 and J4.... All seem to have the full battery pack voltage except for pin 6 on J1 which reads 0. This is the blue wire that runs directly to the solenoid. What could cause this other than a bad solenoid? I read another thread where JonnieB mentioned a correction to his procedure regarding pin 6..... but should pin 6 read 0 ? |

Re: 2001 TXT PDS Limp Mode
The yellow wire on the solenoid's small terminals coming from J1 Pin-7 should have battery pack voltage on it when there is no charger connected to cart, Run/Tow switch is in Run, Either F or R is selected on the F/R switch and Keyswitch is ON. At that point J1 Pin-6 should have battery pack voltage on it since it passes through the solenoid coil to the blue wire. When the pedal is pushed (Pedal switch contacts closed), J1 Pin-6 should drop to 0V energizing the solenoid.
Sounds like the solenoid has a open coil, OR there is a broken yellow or blue wire, OR a bad connection at either end of those two wires. |

Re: 2001 TXT PDS Limp Mode
Thanks Jonnie for your help and all your previous posts, Just wanted to follow up on this in case anyone else runs across something similar.
This cart is new to me so i don't know what has been done to it in the past, etc. but someone had installed a yellow flashing safety light on it and they ran the connections to and through the solenoid and ran a jumper wire between the control box and solenoid which must have been shorting the solenoid. After removing those connections the diag codes immediately went away and the cart ran full speed. |

Re: 2001 TXT PDS Limp Mode
Glad to hear you found and fixed the problem.
The flashing light was probably drawing to many amps from the solenoid activation circuit. If the had use a relay to switch power to the light, it might have worked. |
