Battery Post repair suggestions

So in 2014 when I got tis cart it had one of the battery post that was shorted out and damaged but the seller assured me it was solid. Well this weekend I was cleaning the post and it twisted off. I've searched and watched a few repair videos, some guys drill and tap and some just drill it out. If you look at the attached pic, the area when the post twisted off looks open, I don't think it is leaking but not sure, what should I do with that and does anyone have a stud particular for this or should I just find a brass toilet flange stud?

Any input would be appreciated, the cart is at my camp three hours away so i want to go back prepared so i can fix it right.

drill > tap > silicone>beer> cross fingers.....(beer can go at the front and anywhere in-between , results may vary)….I would clean and baking soda it and dry before I would silicone , and let sit after with no charger till silicone is well cured...

Hope that works for you. I’ve tried all the tricks. The only safe and reliable way to fix it seems to be to replace the battery.

Before you drill but some oil where you are going to drill ! Remember Batteries can explode with just a spark!

Yea I helped a man long ago when his car battery exploded into his eyes, we soaked him with cool water until he got to hospital. I don't want that to happen to me for sure.

Good thing lead doesn't spark.
Your drill motor might though.
Usually if you have some air flow/ventilation around the battery you wont have an issue, but safety goggles/ face shield can be a very handy thing as a pre-caution.

brushless motor on the drill, shouldn't be an issue on the drill but you bet I'll have my face shield on.

I might still use a copper stud though but I'd look up conductance of the various types and what they use on these batteries. If it's stainless I'd probably cut a stainless bolt and just use two nuts to tighten it.
