Default Home Built Roof Rack! Give me your thoughts

I had a need to be able to get the boards around and couldn't find a product. I had a few requirements. 1)The wife said I couldn't drill or cut any holes in the cart. 2) It is a lifted cart and had to fit in the garage. 3) Had to be light. 4) I don't own a welder nor do I know how to weld aluminum so I needed to be able to mechanically fasten all of the components.

So tell me what you guys think.

I am thinking about having it powder coated.

All in the rack is only 15 lbs give or take a pound.

Pretty cool! If it's just for surf boards though, they make Velcro straps with padding that you could use too.

I tried it and there is to much flex in the top at 25 mph and causes the top to bounce and the board came shooting out going down hill. I placed some cross bars close together in the rear to carry beach chairs.

Ah that's good to know. I was going to try taking up surfing and had just planned to get those. They also have those bicycle mounts that swivel out. I've seen some golf carts with those.

Looks great - I like how you even took the extra care to buy plugs for the ends of the tubing. And it looks like it can be easily removed without any scars left behind.

Looks very clean, Might try some of the foam insulation that goes on copper or pex pipe to keep from scarring your board.
