GFI tripping when plugged in
Hey All!
So as the title says my GFI outlet trips when I plug in to charge my cart. This started after I washed my ICON which did include spraying the batteries in the battery bay. I didn't spray the controller or charger directly but im sure they got wet regardless. Any ideas where to start? I'm a little worried bc I have done some electrical mods with lighting and such and would assume the dealer might give me a hard time if I took it to them. I don't think it's an issue with anything I wired because the GFI still trips when the master switch is turned to "off". It's been a few weeks since I washed the cart so unless water is stuck someplace where it cannot evaporate I don't think that's the issue. Anyways, I look forward to hearing what you all have to say... Thanks! |

Re: GFI tripping when plugged in
Have you tried a different GFCI? Those go bad too.
Do you have an extension cord? Try a different one. |

Here's a useful article - https://www.golfstorageguide.com/why...pping-breaker/
Not an easy thing to diagnose without being hands on. You may consider reaching out to the dealer/ICON and having them deal with it and/or they might know the answer? |

Is your charger on-board? Is the AC cord for the charger on a reel?

Re: GFI tripping when plugged in
Ok then, is there a receptacle on the cart where the external cord plugs in?
The main reason a gfi outlet trips is that one of the AC wires in the cord is shorted to ground. So either the charge receptacle is wet inside, or the AC power wiring between the receptacle and the charger is wet and/or damaged. Worst case would b the charger got water in it, but first step is to make sure the receptacle and wiring to the charger are dry, and have no exposed copper wire anywhere that can create a short. |
