Re: Rear End Noise
If a bearing is bad its the one on the armature.
Possible there's a bad bearing in the trans, but the one in the motor is much smaller and doesn't get an oil bath when it spins. |

Re: Rear End Noise
Maybe!? There are different sized bearings. Not sure if that particular one is the right one for your motor or not.

Re: Rear End Noise
Well it's a GE, and that's for GE motors lol. Will see how it goes I guess, I'll take it off when the bearing gets here. Thanks for your info man!

Re: Rear End Noise
Pulled the motor and jacked up the rear. Spun the tires fast as I could and no loud terrible grinding sounds. Even had the wife help to spin both side same time. You know, aside from the little bit of brake rub noise, was all good[emoji1787]
So it pretty much has to be the motor bearing then, correct? Should be here tomorrow. I'll need a small bearing puller I'm sure. Shouldn't be too bad... |

Re: Rear End Noise
Motor won't separate more than this with a flat head prying each side... think maybe outer bearing race seized in there... can I just pry harder wedge style or will I damage something?

Re: Rear End Noise
Going at the bearing that way will only get you in more trouble. Unbolt the motor from the trans and remove it from the cart or you're going to crack the brush holder if you keep prying on it.

Re: Rear End Noise
Oh it's out, on the bench in that pic...you nailed, from bad to worse, grrr... pretty sure I bent the bracket holding the brushes... now debating on total rebuild of stock motor or somehow find one to buy or swap with some cash and get me going.. was planning on taking with us out of town next weekend. Plans change though [emoji15]

Re: Rear End Noise
Ah ok, from the pic it looked like maybe it was still in the cart.
If you just bent the brackets in the case you might be able to bend those back. If you bent the brush holder then you might be better off at this point to go the new motor route. |
