Default carb,carbs,carbs

No guys it is not girls, girls, girls. That would have to go in another section. BUT what it is a photo spread of the 5 carbs I presently have as extras from or for projects.Starting on the left is the original VC 460 2 circuit carb with the adjustable main jet added. Next up is chinese copy of a 30 mm CVK. The next 2 are genuine Mikuni VM round slides. A 34 mm and a 38 mm. Last but by no means least is the Mikuni T40 with its 40 mm flat slide piston along with an accelerator pump. As you can see all but the VC are double spouted carbs that make manifold and air cleaner adapting a snap. However linkage is a whole another animal.

While they were sitting here I broke out the weight weeny scale and weighed 4 of them. The 34 mm mikuni still has the sled cables on it so it was not done. The VC = 295 gms, the CVK=670 gms, the VM 38=845 gms and the T40 = 925 gms. Interestingly enough Russell Thompson from NR and Performance 670 both use house modified Mikuni TMX 34 mm carbs as the one to use despite the vastly different displacements.

One other note here. I found this guide from Victory Library on E bay in 2009 when I built my Ironhead Bobber and installed the Mikuni VM 38. It really helped me to dial in the carb across the whole rpm scale. If it is still available or if it was some sort of pirate deal I cannot say.

FYI The VM series go from 16 mm to 38 mm by 2's IE even #'s. Then a 44 mm unit. The TM's non pumpers are 24,28,32,34,36,38 mms . The pumpers are fewer @ 33,36,40,42,45,and 48 mms. So whether you are running a small displacement engine or a bigger displacement clone, vanguard, VC 625, or a 670 predator Mikuni, probably has one of these cycle carbs for you.

P.S. Anyone jetting a CVK or CVK knock off they use Keihin jets. Both the main and idle jets can be found on Ebay in sets of 10 differing sizes.

Have you used any of those carbs on a clone or big block golf cart?

A VM 34 is on Suzi and the VM 38 is on my Ironhead. The VC 22 mm was on Vicki with the adjustable idle and main jets until it was replaced by the Shepard built VC 24 mm EXP-S. Which has now been on her for 3 seasons. The T 40 is ready for installation on the Ironhead and the CVK 30 has been rejetted for the VC 460. BUT since the adjustable jet VC units worked so well on the VC 460 and the rejetted VM 38 worked so well on the Ironhead the T40 and CVK have not been installed.

On the Ironhead going from the 36 mm Keihin to the 38 mm Mikuni with a ton of speed equipment added took some doing. My attempts before getting the Victory tuning guide were less than successful. Following the steps in the guide produced instant results. The VM 34 on the sled engine using a stock early HD muffler just needed the needle set on step leaner for perfect tuning. Sometimes it is good just to be lucky. The double adjustable VC based carbs are a snap to tune.

I just ordered up a VC 460 engine "great black friday deals!" and I was looking up info on building this when I ran into a redbeards garage youtube video where he builds a stage 2 420 predator with a gopowersports kit. He apparently put on a chinese knock off 34mm flat slide carb on it but I did not catch any reviews on how well it worked... So I'm curious what your personal opinion is between a VC 3 circuit carb that comes with the 460 vs a flat slide or round slide style carb? both driveability and power

Look at Bullfrog or NR racing the the 34 flat slide is for engines in race tune not to mention getting linkage in the cart. Something more like a 30-32 mm would be more size wise better for a lesser modified cart. I am running the VC carb but it does have the adjustable main jet plus the Shepard modified idle circuit. A member here found an Ebay honda carb with an adjustable idle jet and added the adjustable main jet. IF you can get the linkage worked out certainly a 30-32 mm Mikuni would be nice with all kinds of jets available. For that option you need the spigot type manifold also.
