Default Charger question.

Hey All! I had my 96 CC in to the local US Golf Carts to check my rewiring job recently and they told me my OBC and charger are shot. I found a new OBC online and replaced it. I plugged in my charger they told me was shot and it seemed to work fine. I have not had a chance to leave it charging while I am around to make sure it shuts off on its own. Will the charger do damage to batteries if it does not shut off? Is there any way I can test my charger? If I do decide to get a new charger, what is the best one to get? Powerdrive, Powerdrive 2, powerdrive 3. Will any of these work fine with my cart? It is a standard 96 48volt CC. Lift-Kit, 22in tires, stock 3.1 motor, stock controller, 4 ga wires. new solenoid, new OBC. Thanks for any input.

I don't know what the difference is in those chargers is but I do know that if your charger doesnot shut off when the batteries are done it will continue to cook them and yes this excessive heat will shorten their life. So just watch and monitor.....

your charger should shgut off after 16 hours regardless......as for both the charger and the OBC being bad thats a long shot............you more than likely had a bad OBC and by replacing that i,ll bet your charger works fine .......i,ll be real surprised to find that its bad........its possible but i hsave never seen both go bad at the same time never...............keep an eye on it but don,t sweat it..........onlt thing that will keep it from shutting off is if someone went in and bypassed the low voltage sensor and if thats the case its a five minute job to undo it........its a matter of re-routing 2 wires and charger is back to normal....................................they should have checked that.....................................
