Scottyb......Do you have "super powers"? "Hovering" would be "cool"! If I can explain this right...You need the engine "turning over" at a high enough "RPM" to create compression, (so a good battery is needed), You need "wide open throttle" so the engine can preduce the compression reading with all the air it needs to get the "highest" compression reading. Did that explain it ? Or am I just the worst poster trying to awnser a simple question ? Hope this helps. Later Dave

yes impact wrench works the best. and you will need a Yamaha clutch puller.

Didn't take you long to "pull" the motor did it ? Head work...I use a shop rag in the cylinder (to hold the valves) a 17mm open end wrench (to push down the sprin and retainer) and a small screw driver to get out "C" retainer. Decarbonize the head and valves (with a wire brush in a driill-for the head and a wire in your bench grinder-for the valves). If valve seats look good, "lap" them with compond useing a hand drill. At this poit I would take off the valve stem seal (on intake-a screw driver will work to pry it off) and install new stem seals "ON BOTH INTAKE AND EXHAUST", Yamaha only installed one on intake ? Your cylinder head is good to go ! Next post.. "bottom" end. Dave
