Re: Shot a Bruiser... 15pt.. Double brows
Not hunting in particular I live on a decent plot of land about 150 acres that has everything for quality deer management (i.e. river and streams, about 30 acres cut a few years ago that is now thick under brush they stay in at night, soybean/corn fields, and open hardwoods) so I have a very healthy deer population have seen herds of over 25-30 within in 20 yards of me in my stand on multiple occasions. I actually had never seen this deer until that morning. 3-4 days prior I had 8 does a 6 and a 8 and a BIG 9 in front of me but it was still bow season and they were too far for a confident shot.. so I let them walk ive passed up on a few deer where people would have died to have a chance at... like a big 10 two years in a row wanted to see what he progressed to. And I don't shoot by the "if its brown its down" saying I try to sustain a quality herd for constant year after year quality deer im actually in the process of clearing about an acre on the side of the clear cut to make a giant planted food plot to give them more food and correct supplements for antler growth... I like to see BIG BUCKS and have a place where my wife myself and my brother can come and take a animal to fill the freezer, and know that there is at any second buck of a lifetime roaming around but will he show up? that is the $1,000,000 question
