Re: Yamaha G3E Sun Classic rebuild
It’s the roll-type vinyl. Not sure what it’s for but it’s not actually 3M brand. It’s not stretchy. You get what you pay for.

Re: Yamaha G3E Sun Classic rebuild
That stuff will probably work fine. Just remove it, clean all the residue off. Clean with acetone. Then prep with the 3m primer. I have plenty of the crush tubes if you want one. Use that, and put new on. It wont come off again :)

Re: Yamaha G3E Sun Classic rebuild
I got a GTW seat kit. Yours looks like a Steeleng. I’m sure that one could be modified as well, and I actually prefer Steeleng kits and cushions. Neither kit will work without a lot of creativity though...

It is a Steeleng, I’m sure I can make it work but it is going to have a good bit of fab....

Re: Yamaha G3E Sun Classic rebuild
Been a long time since I updated this thread. My brother has a TXT we wanted to redo, so I sold him the 48v battery pack and Alltrax controller and wheels from the Sun Classic. The batteries and controller were just fine, and I never thought the wheels matched this cart that well. My goal is to convert this one to lithium next- I just have another project to finish first. I’ll be getting a bigger Alltrax as well- like a 400 or 500 amp, and some better matching wheels.

Re: Yamaha G3E Sun Classic rebuild
After over a year of sitting in storage, this project is coming back to life this year! Just ordered a new bigger controller from Scotty, picked up some fresh batteries, and I’m going to be doing a bunch of upgrades. I’m also hoping to repaint it this coming season. Stay tuned…

Re: Yamaha G3E Sun Classic rebuild
Everybody rags on the old Yamaha's , I have a old 36v now running a series -parallel lithium pack that runs at 74 volts nominal ,90v in what I call ludicrous mode lol
Have drifted it on dry asphalt at 35mph. Drilled some vent holes in the rear drums and backing plates to keep brake fade at a minimum ,and carrying 4 people is not happening. But **** that cart , with the coil springs and front a arm suspension ,will take anything you throw at it on pavement or smooth trails. Running 205 65 10 on rear with a little inner liner rework , 205 50 10 on front. Pretty much the largest that will fit this cart with dead stock suspension |
