Default New batteries with 10 month old date code

I've got a chance to buy a set of US Battery 12 Volt at a great price. It's a local golf course south of Dallas that has an overstock and just trying to close them out. They've been on the shelf for 9-10 months. I can get them for less than half the cost of a new set. Should I take the chance? I've always got batteries with date code within a month of when I bought them before, but really didn't know any pitfalls of batteries this old.

The thing is they have sat for 10 months without a charge... That is long enough to have done some damage but, how much is had to tell

It's a risk but at half price it may be worth the gamble.
Ask if you can have a 1 month replacement warranty on them. Then you can test performance and recovery and replace the weakest one or ?
