Default motor exchange

Ok I have my transaxle laying on the garage floor. Going to change my stock motor for a D&D high torque this weekend. Have read the manual on motor removal and replacement. Any added information would be appreciated.
Does the bumper gear come out of the old motor and install into the spline of the new motor than grease spline? Also do I need to add some gasket materal between motor and transaxle? Have already up graded all electrionics with ya'lls help that worked out perfect,
Thanks for any technical knowledge
