2004 EZGO TXT speed increase

Good morning all! I feel like somewhat of an enemy here since I am a Club Car guy but hopefully y'all will take it easy on me. I just finished helping my father restore a stock 2004 EZGO TXT electric (non PDS). We stripped it down to the frame and cleaned/polished/painted everything. Then added brand new body from the dealer, new windshield, new Trojans, tires and wheels, rear seat, and dash. The cart really looks tremendous now and almost as good as my Precedent! My problem is that it is very slow compared to my Precedent which runs about 20mph. This has become somewhat of an embarassment for my father and he really wants some help in speeding it up. I'm very familiar with Club Cars and their motors and controllers but somewhat vague on EZGOs. What is the best/ most economical way to increase the speed? Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheap way to upgrade a series txt is putting high speed gears in it...this way you get 8-12 mph gain without having to upgrade controller, wiring or any other components...still wont have the low end torque of your precedent though

We often up the voltage in these carts to 42v by adding an additional battery in series with the other batteries. You can place the battery one the driver's side. This gives you a noticable increase in torque and speed. You will need a 42V charger (link below) but this comes out to be one of the least expensive ways to increase speed & torque.
