Default My Club Car will not move

Hi,
I have a 2000 DS V Glide 36 v Club Car.
My problem is that is will not move when the F&R lever is selected and the accelerator pedal pressed.
I get a clicking sound and the needle on the dashboard gauge flashes across to the E sign and returns to the chg area when I release the accelerator. Each time I press the pedal the same thing happens. Methinks I have some sort of electrical short or faulty component. Either way the cart will not budge.
My batteries are relatively new and hold a charge well.
Any insights into the possible cause or causes and any testing or remedial action I may be able to take, would be appreciated.

always start with the basics, if you havn,t yet check all your battery cables a good pull, tug, twist to make sure everything is tight and if so thjan check battery voltage and load test batteries.......it makes no difference how new they might be anything can happen..............you,ll need a digital volt meter.......from what you say the needle is doing it sounds like something happened to a cable or battery.............did problem just occur all of a sudden? or were you driving?..................................

Tks Shadowman.
The cart was sitting idle for a few days, (charged) but when I switched it on it would not move. All battery cables are tight and terminals are clean.

ok than next would be to make sure what voltage is and what its dropping to under load...........happens all the time..........and you can try tapping the solenoid see if that does anything as even a clicking solenoid can be bad..........try rapping it with a screwdriver see if cart runs, if not you can try jumping solenoid but try tapping it 1st.............................

Tapping the solenoid did nothing.
It is best to jump the solenoid terminals with what type of wire?
I don't possess a voltmeter so I guess I will have to obtain one to be any voltage testing.
Thanks for your advice.

Wow! that's pretty thick wire, if I can find any. How does one shape and bend it to jump the solenoid? What is the best method?
Sorry but golf cart repairs are new to me.

you can use other wire you want to touch both post same time but you want good contact so be careful.......if you have room you can use a screwdriver or wrench something to get across both of them but a good peice of 6 gage cable is what i prefer......again be careful its an electric golfcart.......................................... ...

Well, the solenoid checked out ok but a thorough battery check found one dead battery. I also found that the batteries had been manufactured in 2002 so they have had a pretty good life.
One set of new batteries coming up.
thanks for all assistance.
