Re: 05' Precedent with Jerky Steering Problem
We had this problem with one of the Precedent carts at the golf course where I work. Couldn't get enough adjustment. Finally determined the left side spindle steering arm was bent right where it is welded to the part the kingpin goes through.

Re: 05' Precedent with Jerky Steering Problem
I'll have to look for slight bending. I don't know enough about steering components to really know what to look for on that though. It has a 6" Jakes lift... would the components to that be about the same as your stock?

Re: 05' Precedent with Jerky Steering Problem
Well I thought I would update with what appears to be the solution. I replaced the tie rod end that was worn out and it seems to have fixed the issue. I'm not really sure if that was 100% the problem though. When I adjusted the stock tow in, I ended up adjusting the tie rod ends all the way in, which only gave me 3/16 of tow. I had no more thread to do any more adjustment. This new tie rod end I got is a little shorter than the stock ones, thus more thread to adjust. I actually went over the 1/4" a little bit but it seems to be helping.
The problem exists in small amounts (10%) when I hit bumps in the road at full speed. But the random darting is completely gone. Thanks for all of your help! |

Re: 05' Precedent with Jerky Steering Problem
Tommy,
I am having this same issue. It will dart to the right out of no where. This started happening after I adjusted the tow. Maybe I didn't tighten something correctly. Is your still doing okay? |

Thread was from 6 years ago and he hasn’t been on the site since.
If your problem started happening after adjusting the TOE angle, you adjusted too far. Be sure to make adjustments with the wheels on the ground. Make small adjustments, and Roll the cart backwards and then forwards again at least one full revolution of the tire in between measurements. Be sure to measure to the same place on the tire each time. |
