Angry Reverse alarm sounds in Forward, wont go forward or reverse

I have a 2004 Club Car President. We just replaced a battery and now the cart will not run and the reverse alarm sounds in forward, but it wont move in either forward or reverse. We did replace the 48v DC controller with the exact same part model (1510-1520 or something like that) and is it still behaving the same way. SN PQ0441-449058.

What do I try now?

Let's start all over again, what was the cart doing before you replace the batteries, why did you replace the batteries, and was anything else done.

Okay, a request to go back to the beginning.

We took the cart out 3-4 times this spring and everything was fine. On the 5th trip the low battery light came on and instantly the maching slowed way down. We got it home and had our golf cart guy come over and take a look and he tested batteries and one was bad, so we replaced it.

During the change and charge something went wrong because when my husband went out to check on the cart there was a part, I think he called it a reducer or something, that was glowing red hot, so he pulled the power and let it cool down. After this it won't run and makes the reverse alarm when in forward. The cart guy came over again and said somethimes the controller will blow during a new battery installation, so we replaced the controller but still the same symptoms. All the batteries are testing good.

Any suggetions now? Thanks for your help.

ok there are several different resistors that serve different componants......find out if this is a reagan cart.....if so it will have 2 soleniods and your F&R will be a rocker switch not the lever......find out the location where the resistor is and approx size........is it really small or is it a coil type thing thats about the size of a baseball................again if theres any way to put a few pics up that would really help...............is he at the cart now? ....................................
