Default 2008 workhorse 1200 with fast forward and reverse only

recently aquired the workhorse which is in good condition except it will only run full bore, no slow speed. Tried adjusting cables as outlined in forums' maintenance post to no avail. is there or are there adjustments on the carburator? i am not mechanically inclined so any narative and illustrations would greatly help.

Assuming this cart still has the Robin twin engine! First of all look on the drivers side of the carb and you should see a vertical screw. This may have been turned fully in. Dont worry about adjusting it, just remove it and discard. It is not required for this engine set up. People screw it in to make the cart run fast.
Then You need to check that the carb is not opening before the pedal switch engages. Lift the seat and remove the air filter box to give you a good view of the carb. slowly push the gas pedal down with the ignition off. Watch the operation of the carb and listen carefully for the switch to click under the floor near the pedal. If anything moves at the carb before you hear the click then more adjusting is required. something is not set right with the cables/linkages. There are no other adjustment on the carb to help with this.
You need to set it up so that the switch clicks first, then the throttle starts to open.

You may find the carb has been jammed wide open by the previous owner to get more speed.

If you have the later single cylinder engine ignore anything i said.
