Installing light kit upgrade on precedent now won't run
Working on installing a light kit upgrade on 2014 precedent excel. Simple plug in signal and brake light add on. When hooking up the brake light relay, I didn't have any power on the red wire that powers the brake light switch. So I pulled a new wire from the hot side of the head light switch to power up the brake light switch and everything was working fine, when I started smelling something hot. Finally figured out the smell was coming from the controller area. I think it's coming from the resistor on the solenoid, which would indicate a bad controller. My question is what could I have done that could have caused this? Nothing arched, lights work fine, cart was fine before I started. I've read a thread some time back about light kits causing feedback problem, but I can't find anything on it. Any ideas?

Did the cart drive at all after the light install?
Do you have a converter on the cart to provide 12v, or are the lights wired straight to the battery? |

Re: Installing light kit upgrade on precedent now won't run
During the install was when I started smelling something hot. The light kit is hooked directly to the batteries. It was an existing light kit that is installing the signal light and brake light upgrade. That is all I was messing with. I haven't looked on the controller area, but I'm sure it's the resistor getting hot. I've seen that before. The cart hasn't ran since I started smelling the resistor.Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

New Alltrax has her running again. Still wondering what I could have done behind the dash that could have caused the controller to fry? Coincidence? Nothing shorted or arched. Oh well, it's running again, lesson learned.

Only bad thing is it isn't my cart. One I was working on for someone else. Controllers don't taste good when have to eat them! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk
