Simple Yamaha Electric cart question.
My brother in law has a very nice stock 2009 Yamaha YDRE 48V golf cart. He gets 13 mph max speed. He wants to get that above 20mph. At quick glance I see things like change gear ratio. He asked me about doing a speed increase and new battery. Not even sure he should not buy a new cart,
Thoughts would be appreciated. Thank You. M |

Re: Simple Yamaha Electric cart question.
It's all in the controller. Golf course speed is 14mph. You can easily get 20mph with a controller upgrade.

Oh thank you. I will research a new controller unless someone has the cliff notes.

Re: Simple Yamaha Electric cart question.
With an Alltrax XCT 48300 stock replacement controller you'll get ~ 22 mph, more torque and nothing else has to be changed. There is a version made for Yamaha YDRE/G29, that is plug 'n play.

Re: Simple Yamaha Electric cart question.
I have two G29's with Alltrax and they both easily do over 20mph.

Re: Simple Yamaha Electric cart question.
Thank You. Found one on Amazon. $570. Now just to be sure... This one he would not have to program, just replace existing controller? How do I tell if he has regen or series motor?

Re: Simple Yamaha Electric cart question.
The Yamaha is a Sepex / Regen cart. According to the Amazon site, the Alltrax XCT 48300 is sold by D & D Motor Systems and comes pre-programmed for the stock ( Hitachi ) motor.

Re: Simple Yamaha Electric cart question.
Make sure to check the sponsors first. I know at least one of them will beat that price. I would also bump up to the 400 amp. Not much more $ and at some point that stock hitachi motor will die.
