Default Battery Draining

Valor EX1

Something is draining the battery as it sits in the garage. I had to replace the ISG last year, so I don’t think that’s the issue.

It started with having to turn the key on and off twice for it to be able to start. But after a week, I get nothing except the reverse alarm.

The battery was under warranty so I got a new one, and it killed that one within a week.

Any ideas/suggestions, or what to test? I also replaced the ignition relay thinking that was it. My next step was to replace the ECU, but I don’t want to drop $500 if that’s not the issue.

use a clamp type amp meter on every positive wire and see where your draw is.

Make sure your amp clamp is capable of DC Amp readings. Not all are. But as suggested by Capt. take your clamp on meter and start checking around for where the draw is going.

Do you have a 12v reducer? Is it a switched reducer?

I don’t believe there is a reducer. At least I don’t see any.

Curious, have you seen a battery drain issue before?

So I have to turn the ignition on and off twice form it to start, even with a brand new battery.

Could the ignition switch be bad and be staying on even when the key is off? Or maybe a bad relay somewhere?

You have to figure out what’s drawing the current that drains the battery down.
