Default SPM vs. AXE Pros and Cons?

I am thinking about upgrading to a programable controller. I like the looks of the SPM 48400. I have a lifted cart, rear seat, stock motor. May possibly go 48 volts sometime in the future. Any thoughts?

Axe seems to have a little more "punch" at zero speed. Other than that, the Spm wins hands-down. Spm is MUCH more tolerant of failures, and botched installations. I put a spm in a cart with incorectly wired reversing contactors, Dead Short! Spm didnt even flinch, just said "i aint gonna do that". Built in cooling. Auto ranging throttle. I would take a Spm over a Axe in 99% of applications.

I'll go 100%. With higher peak and sustained outputs and programmable throttle ramps.... it can be as slow or fast as you like it to be

Your question is much like asking if your new computer should have windows 95 or 7 operating system..... 32 or 64 bit? Twin or Quad towers? THese controllers have advanced just like the PCs. The SPM does things we wished the old AXE could do. In conclusion... there is no reason NOT to go with the SPM over the AXE control that I can think of

I'm an end user. ( SPM) Purchased it from Scottyb about a year ago. Installation is easy. The program it comes with from Scottyb was fine for my application. Ran it for several months at 36v. Been running since Feb on 48v. Didn't have to change a thing in the controller. In fact, never felt the need to hook it up to a computer.
Plug n play. Easy peasy.

One more question ScottyB. Is the SPM as weather proof as the AXE or does it need to be covered? I couldn't find anything about that on the Alltrax web page.

Yes. It is more water resistant - than the AXE control
