Yeah, sorry for mentioning a "non sponsor", but where else do you get that kind of stuff from? Are there any sponsors that sell it? If so we need to know, right? Anyway, I'm very pleased with Speedway's prices and how easy their website is. I even paid with paypal from the site, how nice is that? |

Re: Got the G1 with ATV suspension done!
I've given this site sponsor thing a little thought. They certainly help us by funding the forum and do deserve loyalty. I would guess they would all be thrilled if everyone supported them 50-60% of the time and that would far exceed what the average return is on advertising money. All of my major money went to site sponsors but going outside the loop for some items was great fun and a good passtime on a cold winter evening. Thanks to the site sponsors and by the way, I encouraged everyone I bought from to become site sponsors. Just my two cents.........

Re: Got the G1 with ATV suspension done!
My idea was to keep all the parts on this cart "Yamaha", and build it like it should have been done originally. Well, Yamaha wasn't thinking of this type of a setup for "golf course" use, so it's just ended up being an abomination of atv meets golf cart. I think it's cool, that's why I do it, but also because it works. I am already dreaming of my next attempt. I wouldn't mind using YFZ450 front end on the next one, a little old meets new. More added width and stability. But......of course......the cost of the atv parts is the deciding factor.....

Alright...what I was saying is that I've seen some people graft the yzf450 suspension onto banshees in the past for cheaper alternatives to +2" long-travel a-arms. I ran Lone-Star Racing's +2" per side a-arms on my motorcross Banshee...

Re: Got the G1 with ATV suspension done!
I used to ride a Raptor 660 that I had all done, YFZ Shocks all around, wished I had the ROLL LOBO front end with Elka's, but couldn't justify the cost if I wasn't racing. But it handled like a dream and was fast as h***! I took it to Silver Lake Dunes in MI a few times. One time I was doing a high speed run down a smooth stretch.....or so I though.....hit a big dune and flew through the air. The suspension saved my life! So, I figured why not put one on my cart?
If you do this mod, make sure you get the atv frame so you can either graft it in, or use the stock mounting points to take measurements from. The key is in the geometry, you don't want to change that. I can tell you that mine handles flawlessly, but I have tons of hours in it. It was def worth it. Its hard for me to believe that a Jakes LT would handle any better, since the Jakes isn't bred from an off road machine, they were designed for carts. That's not to say the Jakes isn't good, just that the atv geometry "has" to be better. Proven design. What kind of cart do you have Banshee? |
