Default 2001 Club Car "Regen" Quick Question

Hey all, Hope someone can answer this quick question.

I have a 2001 Club Car "Regen" cart. Awhile back I blew the controller and upgraded to a GE 400 amp controller. At the same time I purchased a new Master Solenoid just in case. I wired everything up per the schematic and it the cart worked for awhile until today without issue.

My question is surrounding the regen portion of my cart. I verified that it is indeed a Regen Serial Number, but I can only see (1) solenoid? Did Club Car Make a Regen cart and not have the (2) solenoid? I noticed while going down hill after installing the new controller the braking never engages anymore, just free coasting downhill.

Any thoughts?

With some aftermarket controllers you will loose the regenerative braking feature... Call whoever sold you the unit to verify. The only danger lies in over-reving the motor when motoring or coasting down hill... you can explode the windings and grenade the motor this way ......
P.S.
There is never a quick question with a CC regen cart! And yes the IQ carts have regen and 1 solenoid
What is your serial #?

Thanks for letting me know. I think I got a DS series. My S/N has an "AC" at the beginning.

I put my motor positive and negative on a 12 volt battery while the cart was up on jack stands and the wheels won't turn. You think I blew my motor up? It was still the factory motor because I didn't upgrade it when I upgraded my controller from 220 to 400amps...

My reverse buzzer won't go off while in reverse, my solenoid doesn't click like it should, got all sorts of crap going on. Batteries are at full charge, I've reset the OBC.... Dunno what to do next.

You can check the motor for 'unwanted' continuity. You should have continuity between any S1 and S2 terminal and between any F1 and F2 terminal but NOT between any S and F terminal ...... Unwanted continuity = a direct short.

Scott,

Thanks for the info again. One last dumb question. Would A1 and A2 on my motor be the same as S1 and S2? I think the F1 and F2 terminals are part of my Regenerative system correct, they have much smaller wire, correct?

Yes A1 and S1 are the same.... The regen wires are coming out of the pigtail opn the end of the motor..... from the speed sensor....

Do you have the proper wiring diagram for your 2001 Regen? Not all of them are stickied above. I too have an 01 regen. There are four diagrams depending on the configuration. I've listed all four here, find the one that matches your cart.
