Re: Charger for Allied drop ins
I am noticing the same issue with the charge dropping substantially over night. I just charged the cart and let it sit for over 15 min and checked the voltage on each battery:
13.85 14.04 13.31 13.33 Does this imply that they are out of balance? Should I do the conditioning or just charge each one to get them to the 14.04 independently? Thansk Joe |

Re: Charger for Allied drop ins
Yes - they are out of balance. My Leaf cells do not drop at all overnight after charging. My cell voltages are all within .01Volts (10 mV) after charging.

Re: Charger for Allied drop ins
It appears their individual battery can not shunt enough current to properly charge a series pack using a single charger.
They have a new balacing module to help with charging, perhaps a member here has one and can post their experience with the device: https://alliedlithium.com/products/a...lancer-lifepo4 |

Re: Charger for Allied drop ins
I have the Allied batteries installed. I did not bypass my OBC, I was told that was necessary. I have had all kinds of problems with these batteries for the past year. The dealer sent me a balancer to curb the problems. I tried installing the balancer but it was arcing and I had to stop. Anyone know the order for installation of the balancer?

Not necessary to remove or disable the OBC.

Re: Charger for Allied drop ins
The OBC should be by-passed and removed if you have a Lead Acid smart charger or a lithium charger.
If You are using the PowerDrive charger then you must keep the OBC in place as those batteries cannot properly shunt the current from an unregulated power supply like the PowerDrive box. |
