Potentiometer Testing
I have a 92 marathon. The pot has 4 wires. How do you test to see if you are getting the full range when pedal is pressed?

Re: Potentiometer Testing
The two wires that lead to the the controller are the two you are interested in checking. The white and black wires that are on the spade clips position #2 & #3. The other 2 wires run to the FNR. When reverse is selected you pass through a resistor in the POT to give you 1/2 speed. Pull off the two wires on the controller and with the cart in forward attach an ohmmeter to the two leads. Ideally as you depress the accelerator pedal you won't see any reading till the hill brake kicks off then just before full pedal travel you should see a peak of 5000 ohm. This should be a smooth transition with no spikes.
