Default Added air inlet, now it backfires.

So I added a fresh air inlet like on a workhorse using some 1 1/2 plumbing parts to the passenger side foot area. Now when coming off full throttle it will backfire with a loud pop and I believe some smoke. Any thoughts???

Ya you are running it to lean now, not enough back pressure ratio, tryin adjusting the carb.

Ok, I will adjust the carb, but from what I have read on here the adjustment doesn't do much. I will also check the throttle plate. Thanks.

Well I found the carb screw was about 1 & 1/8 turn out. I ended up with just a smidge more turned out which should make it richer. I couldn't go more as it would bog. I then turned the plate screw out another 1/2 turn as I couldn't see well enough down the carb throat even with a mirror. So between the two the backfire is gone. the throttle is not super crisp but pretty good, better to be a little rich right?

Where I will be riding is very dusty.
I just checked the plugs and they look good.
