Nice progress Dez. I can't help with the steering rack question but here's a link to Dubs27's build thread where he was dealing with a rack issue on his conversion:

Also a link to all the threads in "Bike/ATV swap" section that came up when I searched steering rack:

Hopefully you can find what you need by scanning thru a few threads.

Wondering if I can use the stock steering rack from the EZ Go... It all lines up really good with the front end.. Is there too much play with these? Are they not strong enough? I guess I could just try it out and see what happens. I plan to just putt around in the bush and trails. It is not going to be a race buggy by any means... I want to use it for a work machine while we are out trapping and such....

Pics are coming :) No worries....

Nice Build Thread LiL..... It looks like everything is lined up to try the stock column and rack from the EZ Go. I just have to fab a plate to bolt the tie rod ends on it. I'll give it a try.. Can't hurt anything.....

Got the front end welded in last night. Within 1/32" for being square. Pretty happy with that.. Lot's to do this week and pics will be coming soon of the progress :)

Great forum here everyone!!!!!

More work done this weekend. We got the front and back ends nice and solid now. Used 1" OD Tubing and it went really good. Added support to both front and back as well as the tubes for the underside. I'm a 240 lbs. man and got on it and jump around like a kid and no flex or moving anywhere... Very happy.

Next on the list is to build a frame for the motor to sit on so I can tear into it to make sure everything is ok and running good before we put it in the frame. I will be welding that up tonight and hope to have the motor on there as well. My buddy is great with wiring and tearing these things apart so we will get into later in the week.

Here are some photos of the frame work. Let me know what you all think :)

Hey Guys,

Some more progress this weekend. Got some tube and made a frame on casters for the motor to sit on so we can test it outside the cart. Welded some tabs for the mounts and even the old handle bars with the switches and everything :) works pretty good.. I was just waiting for my CDI to show up which it did today so I hope to fire it up tonight. I will get some video for sure!!!

Quick question.... The vertical shaft that is in the center of the cart for steering. The one the tie rods attach to as well as the rack and pinioni on the EZ Go cart. I got the cotter pin pulled from the bottom but is that a large rod that goes inside of the bushings? How is the easiest way to get that out??

Any help would be great!!!

Thanks again everyone..

Dezi
