Default Is 58.4v too much for a stock precedent

It seems most of the builds in this section are using a number lithium cells that equate to 58.4v fully charged. But the stock precedent fleet cart is rated at 48v. Will this extra voltage damage the controller and motor over time?

No the motor and both the controller and solenoid can operate at a higher voltage.

Should be ok. 58.4 is the absolute max for a Lithium Ion 14S pack. I only charge mine up to about 57 volts. FLA packs fully charged are over 50 Volts even though they are called 48V. However, when I put Lithium in my Yamaha cart four years ago, the controller died a couple weeks later. Stock Yamaha controllers are known to be pretty crappy.

Bobbob,
Thanks for the reply. Would you happen to know the voltage range spec on the eric controller?

Volt_Ampere,
Thanks for the response. Your experience with your Yamaha makes me a little nervous. Did you replace the failed controller with another Yamaha controller? if so, is it still working with the lithium pack?

I replaced the failed controller with an Alltrax 500 amp. They are rated to 60Volts I believe. I have been running with the Alltrax and Leaf Lithium for over four years now.

You can’t use the Eric charger for a lithium charger.

My cart worked on the stock controller just fine, but I wanted to be able to program a low voltage cutoff in the controller so I switched to Alltrax after a month. The Alltrax is good up to 62V max. My stock controller was still fine when I removed it. It's still sitting on my parts shelf 'just in case'.
