Western 100 Hot Rod??
This is my first golf cart and I think I went a little overboard but it’s been fun.
I purchased the cart from a rancher that used it to check his cattle and change the water. I love the details this cart has and the way it oozed 80’s golfing. My plan was to put a lift on it and use it to drive out to the duck blind with my son but mama said “no I want you to fix it up for around the house”. After a TON of research I decide the cart had to get switched to 48 volt. As long as I was going to 48v it had to have an alltrax SR48500 w/400amp HD solenoid, SW202 electric F&R switch and electric foot pedal. Oooo I probably should just upgrade to lithium because why wouldn’t you?!? 2 14 cell leaf battery packs should work. So at this point I figured it need new upholstery, flooring and tires………Down the rabbit [emoji235] hole we go. Did I mention it needed some body work!!! I had the cloth upholstery replaced with high grade boat vinyl and EVA foam for the flooring. The tires got trashed for a set of chrome godfather rally wheels wrapped in low profile rubber. Body work was the biggest PIA. Initial I was going to just have the front fiberglass bumper repaired and placed back on but……I ended up getting it molded into the front so the front clip looks like one piece. I had a good glass guy so he put Cadillac tail lights in the back and rolled the back bumper. It was a process to say the least. Next was paint and it took 3 times to get it right but we got it. I went with a Bel Air paint theme. I’m currently going through the wiring and designing the dash but it’s operational after 16 months.
