Re: 2017 Drive2
IMO about 20mph is as fast as one should go in a golf cart with only rear brakes. If you want faster and you care at all about safety, you need to install front brakes.

Re: 2017 Drive2
Fair point on the brakes, but I haven't felt the need for an upgrade yet. I know the higher speeds put a strain on the brakes but to be honest, they've been doing just fine for the last couple years that I've been driving the cart. I think that a lot of people forget that it's a throttle, not an on/off switch. Those people are generally very hard on brakes. Just lifting off the go pedal starts to scrub off speed long before I get to a stop sign. I've yet to have any concern for the stopping power or distance in it's current condition. If or when that changes, upgrades or fresh brakes all around will be installed right away.

Re: 2017 Drive2
I did not mean brake wear. You can stop fine given the distance necessary. Stopping quickly doesn't happen with just rear brakes. If you have tried it, you know that you just lock up the rears very easily and it takes a long way to stop. Not good if something happens in front of you. :-(

Re: 2017 Drive2
That's odd. I wonder if I'm lucky or good at brake pedal control because I don't think that I've ever locked up the brakes on my cart on dry pavement under normal driving conditions. Gravel and wet pavement aside obviously. I live on the Gulf coast, a few blocks from the water, so it's not exactly a high traffic or high speed area. I probably see more golf carts driving around the neighborhoods than I do cars once everyone is home from work.
