Default Club Car DS Comet 780 with stock generator pulley

I'm beginning a lifan 420cc swap and was debating whether I should:
A. Use stock clutch with generator/starter pulley. Cut and tap crank, or

B. Fork over $ for a comet clutch and not worry about cutting the crank.

QUESTION: Can I use the stock generator/starter pulley that mounts to the backside of the stock clutch with the comet 780?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Unless it is a straight 1" diameter and a 1/4" key way the odds of it holding up are slim. IMHO the comet 780 is the way to go BUT I understand the expense. BUT again at the end of the day do you really want your cart to work well ?

There isn't even a keyway on the original pulley, there are 3 bolts that hold it together to the back side of the stock clutch. I don't use the cart too often and have a spare CC clutch if needed. Just not sure I want to cut, tap/drill the crank!

All that I can say to that is after you cut it and tap it IF you are unhappy with the result the only way to use a 780 is to replace the crankshaft.

You can get a keyed 1" shaft pulley from Vegas Carts or another sponsor. If they don't have one you can always go to your local tractor parts store, it's a generic stocked item, very common. What you need is "V belt pulley for 1" keyed crankshaft 7" diameter". You might have to use washers between the pulley and the clutch to get it to be spaced correctly.

I did a Briggs twin swap and ordered a tapered adaptor from ebay so I could use my stock clutch and starter.
