2011 YDRE - noise when moving
Background info:
- Had cart for 4 years - Battery pack replaced April of this year (2020). Load tested each battery, all good. Confirmed normal voltage drop, across each battery, when accelerator depressed. - Key on (click) - Depress accelerator (click) but no movement until rock the cart slightly, then it goes. - Cart makes grinding noise when moving under acceleration but not slowing down - Cart speed greatly decreased - No noise when in tow mode and being pushed - Placed rear on blocks and tested after getting both tires to spin in same direction - noise still exists. - Checked differential oil level - good Could use some pointers here on what to check next. Former Navy Electronics Technician so am comfortable with tools and multi-meters. Thanks in advance. |

Bad motor, pull it apart & you'll see the brushes & commutator will be fried.

Re: 2011 YDRE - noise when moving
Thanks cgtech. I thought that may be the issue but was hoping for a different solution.
Any recommendations on a replacement? Replace with OEM? Cart is used for light farm duty and has "mudder" type tires on it. |

Thanks cgtech. Appreciate your help.
Reached out to Don. He's unavailable until Thursday. Was told he'd call back upon his return. I'll work with him then. |

He has a reputation of "best anywhere to be found" customer service, so keep in touch when he's back. He will steer you in the right direction. "All stock" replacement parts isnt right for you.

Re: 2011 YDRE - noise when moving - UPDATE
UPDATE 8/28/20
Received new motor from Don earlier this week. Just put it in the cart today. Took the cart for a test ride and wow, what a difference. More torque and speed. Best of all, it's quiet! Don was great to work with. I look forward to working with him for any future cart needs. Thanks @cgtech for all your help. You were spot on with your analysis of what was causing the noise. The brushes were completely trashed. |

if commutator is still good... replace brushes and bearing and sell motor.
