In order to get 7k with the VC 440/460, did you modify the driver/driven and if so do you have a link to your build?

Thanks

But it's in my garage waiting for another project. I have to say that it was not a very strong engine in the low rpm range, but that may have been from the carb. I did switch to a Mikuni style 30 mm and it was much better but I never finished getting it dialed in before switching to the Vanguard.

edit: Specs on the cam say: .330" lift 246 duration @.050" 110 LC
Wow I am surprised the valve train and flywheel survived those kind of revs. Did you run it long at those RPMS ? Was that with the stock valves and retainers ?

ARC and Paul's carts say that anything .350" lift requires special spring and seat work. With the .265 cam and 1.3 rockers we are at .3445". Have you checked this out ?

Thanks for the reply
The compression release on the clone is not in the lobes as some cams are.

I didn't run it long. Just short speed runs. Stock heads.

What drive/driven were you using to get 7k and can you share a link on how you modified them in order to allow higher RPM?

Thanks

Cleaned and deburred my VC 460 block for Omega. It was amazingly free of any roughness or casting flash. What little was there was polished out. Also installed the solid dowel pins from Bullfrog for the side cover.

Comet 780 drive clutch from CPP, no modifications

Plowman's performance driven, stock spring, no modifications

John Deere Kevlar cogged HD drive belt

The engine determines the rpm, not the clutches. Valvetrain is setup tight with chromoly pushrods and Isky race cam. Fuel is an issue at high rpm.

Will do some pics when I get a little more organized with all that is being done. My dining room and spare bedroom look like a clone racing warehouse.
