I took advantage of the NRracing sale and got an OEM Honda 390 10 amp flywheel that was a closeout. The Omega has the no longer produced Raceseng billet unit on it and how that performs will decide what direction the future will be in the flywheel selection. BUT should I decide to return to iron flywheels I will now have the OEM Honda unit many people advice for ungoverned engines. My spare bedroom and around my dining room look like a clone engine parts depot. BUT when I spot a super deal on a clone engine part that might come in handy I buy it. Many of the super duty parts on the Omega engine we purchased this way.

My genuine Honda flywheel from NRracing came today. It is very finely machined and weighs 12.5 lbs. Ordered it over the weekend and it arrived today. FAST shipping. Below are pics of an old clone unit versus the new Honda. I see driving back from my weekly trash run that the marina and bait shop are still operating. I guess winter striper fishing must be good.

The striper season ended on 12/31 here and all the boats are out of the marina other than the Bonanza II. It is the biggest party boat here and I think the only one with a bubbler. Kind of eerie with no other boats in the marina. Our island's name is getting bandied about in the PBS's 80 days around the world. Interestingly enough a descendant of John Fortescue was deeded the island in the early 1700's but never traveled here himself. It was sold in 1775 for the price of 5 shillings to William Smith of Burlington NJ.

With the weekend weather report I decided to test run my generators. The 460 All power did fine. The 7 hp Duromax was another story. The battery was dead and turned out to be leaking gel. Pulled started it and after the run I noticed a pool of oil. Looking it over it was the valve cover leaking. Pulled it apart and seen the gasket was badly deteriorated. Took the gasket off another 7 HP clone that was at best soso. Adapted a battery off a jump box. Then test ran it and all was good. The valve cover gasket on the 7 HP doesn't appear to be of the quality like the 390 clone type

I found the OMB warehouse has a rubber gasket for the 212 clone. Ordered one.

Fired Vicki's engine up today but didn't go for a ride. It took quite a bit of cranking before she fired up. Got the oil splashing around inside and ran up to 4000 revs after she warmed up and smoothed out.
