Default 2003 Club Car

I have a 2002 Club Car ( Non-IQ). Can I run a 400 amp controller with the stock motor? And if so, what type of preformance gain will I see? Thanks!

Yes you can run a 400 amp controller. If your just adding the 400 amp controller you will gain a little torque just not alot. Your biggest gains will be in adding a high performance motor. An 02 is 48 volts right?

So if I do this in steps should I go controller or motor first? I would like to have 19 mph or so and good torque when I'm done.

I would get the controller. If you get a motor first you run the risk of burning up the stock controller. Controller first then when you get the motor you wll be ready to go. I would also buy the highest amp controller you can afford. When the bug hits you will be wanting MORE!

I was looking at the new Alltrax 500 amp controller. Will this hurt the stock motor?

It will be just fine. Very Nice controller. Don't forget the 4 gauge cables.

Have you considered an EMP motor? IMO they are the best bang for the buck. I have an EMP 2 speed motor on my 77....it puts out so much torque I just leave it in high speed mode.

Here is their website EMP Golf Cart Motors If you call and talk to them be sure and tell them we sent you. Ask for Andrea.

No I have not but it looks very interesting. Will it run off of the stock controller or do I still need to upgrade to the 400 amp controller?

Yes, EMP can build you a motor with more performance to work with your stock controller. Adding a high amp controller along with an EMP motor will net you even more power gains. You will have to explain to EMP what you have and what you want the cart to do and they can give you reccomendations as to what kind of motor they can build for you.
