The timing key advances the engine timing. The engine is more
responsive, crisper, more snap on take off. The rest of the
kit is for the valve train and will keep the valves from floating
at high RPM. You can run at WOT without causing damage.

Boo, your so right. I'm already thinking of things I can get rid of that will give me more cash to buy more stuff for the new cart. I don't think I'll need my paintball gun anymore ( my two boys will not agree ). I swear my wife thinks I'm crazy. I just tell her that this is my 40 something mid life thing and this keeps me from becoming depressed. So here's to not being depressed!!!

It really never ends. There's always something new you just have to have. But hands down, the big block upgrade is the best single thing you'll do. Everything else is just "all the cute stuff a girl wants" I'm already making plans to go bigger sometime next year. Like I said, it's an addiction.

Who has installed the "hot" cam and the "valve spring/push kit" with the "advance timing woodruff key" ? I'd be very interested in your input. Thanks Dave

I've done a dozen or so 18hp-35hp with cam, rev kit, head gaskets and roller rockers and some times the longrod..!! This stuff wakes these engines up!!

where are you getting the roller rockers? I have been looking for vanguard parts for my 20hp that I bought off one of the members. having a hard time on the internet finding links.

the interesting thing is that the 20hp has the same 2brl carb setup as the 23. so i can order the carb spacer from alpha carts. probably the rev kit from carts plus. not sure if I am going to jump to the cam right away. have to order tires and wheels first.

If the carburetor spacer is anything like a throttle body spacer used in automotive applications, they have cheaper paperweights in Wal-Mart.
