Rear Leaf Springs
Parabolic vs dual action rear leaf springs, which is a better ride for the street?

Re: Rear Leaf Springs
The claimed advantage of a parabolic spring is reduced friction between the multiple leaves of a standard leaf spring. Technically, the parabolic might be slightly more compliant. But that is assuming the two springs being compared are the same spring rate. Something your inquiry doesn't state.
The dual action (dual rate) springs are essentially a standard spring with an overload type leaf added that is engaged when the standard spring is compressed enough to make contact with the extra leaf(s). Personally I would prefer the dual rate spring since it will operate like a standard spring until you add extra people or cargo. Then is is stiffer. The parabolic spring isn't necessarily a progressive rate spring unless the mfr tells you that. |

Re: Rear Leaf Springs
Spring rates are not stated on either (Red Hawk), and one of the advantages it states is less of a rust issue, which is a real problem here on the gulf coast. I am presently using dual action dual rate springs and would just like a smoother ride if possible, and less rust would be a big plus.....

Re: Rear Leaf Springs
I can't see where Red Hawk is offering the option of a parabolic HD spring. Only standard in a single leaf parabolic. The HD Precedent springs I saw listed were conventional multi-leaf springs.
