Going Fast
So two weekends ago I tightened the "spring bolt" to increase my speed and it worked great. I was flying around the course.
Park my cart. Two weeks goes by and I go to get it. Screams in reverse out of my spot, I smile from ear to ear. Put it in forward and it is slow again. (well, not slow, but "normal" speed) looked at the "spring bolt" I tightened and its still tight. Drove it for 2 hrs. Nothing. Any ideas? |

Re: Going Fast
The spring/bolt thing you are talking about is the governor adjuster on the transmission. All it does is allows the governor to reach a higher ground speed before it kicks in and limits the throttle mechanically. Shouldn't have anything to do with reverse being fast and forward being slow. You'll want to look elsewhere.
You can always bypass the governor and take the throttle cable straight to the carb. This will give you max speed. You will have to watch over revving the engine if your engine doesn't have it's own electronic governor. As far as your current situation, I'd look at the clutches and make sure they are free and not sticking. The drive belt should be replaced if it's out of spec and or glazed or cracked. The driven clutch "buttons" do wear down and break, check those. Also the clutch sheave faces must be flat/true with no grooves etc. |
