Default Probably a dumb question

I bought a used Curtis controller cheap and when getting it out of my car I thought I heard water in it and there is a liquid in it when you shake it. New to the cart scene but I don't think there should be liquid in it someone set me straight on this

Thanks

Water inside a controller is a bad thing.

Actually, though, that thing may be like some cell phones in that they get ruined if they get wet AND you try to power them up? I have a brother who manages a bunch of of those cell phone repair places. He claims that water itself wont hurt a lot of phones. It's trying the use them before the water evaporates that kills them. If they were allowed to dry they would have worked. You may want to see it you can air that thing out then give it a try? I don't suppose it could hurt anything.

Just a thought.

If it was powered up when water got in there it will be a mess inside.

I got under 200 in the whole cart it is a textron industrial cart I know for a fact it was running 6 months ago I guess sitting it got water in it. I have been thinking of going 48v with my cart and was gonna use it for dual voltage and higher amps. Can I use the stock controller and perform the 48v upgrade without damage? Or should I just leave it alone and run it?

I am almost certain it hasn't seen any power it had a large load dropped on the back and broke the axle and was scrapped immediately and sat outside for 6-9 months

My factory curtis controller said on it the voltage range that it was good at. Guess g the factory unit is not good at 48v unless it came out of one running 48v already.
