I did see a buck the day before i shot this one chasing a doe. the rut started here about a week into november and i shot this one on nov. 22.

Is that the exit wound in the bottom of his neck? If so, he must have been directly under your stand.
Neck doesn't look swollen like an in rut buck. I can't tell from pics about his rear hocs.

thats the entry wound, i was on the ground. i was between him and where he wanted to be. by the time i had a clear shot he was about ten yards from me. i shot him with a 20ga slug. the meat is in the freezer. this one was a young buck, they grow quite large here in west central Illinois.
