Default 2000 gas villager running issue

Well, I have a small issue. I have a 00’ Villager 6 gas key start FE350. I bought this cart the other week and it had been sitting for a few years (2 or 3). So I replaced the carb, added fresh gas, and away we went. Runs good in the neutral mode, longer you run it, the better it runs.

Here’s the issue:
Once you take it out of maintenance mode, turn the key on it turns over and when you hit the pedal it stalls. Weird part is when you turn key on and pull throttle cable at motor it will accelerate and start to move. The only way it will move under its own power from driver seat is to hold key to start position, remember this is a key start, not a pedal start, and hit throttle then it will move F/R.

So, to drive it, you either have to have someone in the motor compartment pulling the throttle cable at the carb, or hold key switch in the start position the whole time while you are pushing down the accelerator pedal.

I’m kind of stumped.........LOL. What should I try.

Thanks, Troy

Probably one of the microswitches is bad and its killing the spark when you press the pedal. The microswitches work together to keep a relay in the electrics box energized. When the shifter is in the wrong position and you hit the pedal, it opens the relay coil which also opens the solenoid, and the relay also grounds the ignition kill circuit.

The two key start transporters we have I bypassed the switch at the shifter and it fixed that problem both times.

Replace all 4 switches, it's cheap and they are all going to go soon being 19 years old.
