Electric EZ Go battery connections
I have an older electric cart with 6 batterries in series. Original all the batteries were dead so the wires were connected as we thought and when we put the charger on the cart it moved forward. After the batteries were charged overnight, the cart moved forward and when I tried reverse one of the battery connecters started to smoke and became cherry red. I disconneced all the cables at that point. There are 2 large wires and one small wire at one end of the batteries and 2 large wires at the other end. I've tried several combinations but only get sparks.

Re: Electric EZ Go battery connections
find out the year and look up top here in the stickies to see if they have a diagram, follow the wires from the back of charge receptical depending on year one of those wires should go to the battery right behind it along with a wire from the keyswitch and a few others should be positive terminal........the other wire from the receptical should run to pass side of cart front battery neg. term and there will be several other wires with it also, this is for a resistor cart with the F&R lever down by your leg.................if your battery setup is 2 in the front and 1 behind it on both sides than the wires from the charge receptical are mounted as i said..................the short wire to the battery closest to it ( pos ) and the neg wire over to the other front battery........................................... .

The direction control is beside the steering wheel. There are six batteries side by side. I will try to find out the year.

Re: Electric EZ Go battery connections
To find the stickies go back to the main ezgo electric page and look at the top posts. Wiring diagrams are found there.

Re: Electric EZ Go battery connections
I'll try to get a picture. How do I tell if it is a controller or resister cart?

Re: Electric EZ Go battery connections
A controller is a box about the size of small computer speaker (Hey, they're right in front of me!), and a resisitor cart will have a vented rectangular container with bed-spring looking coils inside.
