Smile Charging Problem

I just purchased a 2000 ezgo electric golf cart I plugged it in to charge all night. After using it a few minutes it appears to run out of charge. I've checked the water levels and the headlights are bright but when I plug the charger in it doesn't show any amps. How can I check to see if the charger is in fact working or if the batteries are already charged? Thanks and I appreciate any help as I know NOTHING about golf carts

Most likely you have a bad connection somewhere in the system....doesn't matter how old or new it is, connections do go bad. You should check your connection at least once a month....and I don't mean "look" at them, I mean physically tug on them one at a time, look for corrosion and make sure they are clean and tight. Take them loose one at a time, clean and re-install.

Thanks Rusty....this is a new toy for us so lots of learning to do!! We cleaned all the connections but it seems that maybe the charger is not working. There is no "humming" sound when plugged in, nor the amp gage doesn't come on. Do you have any advise on a replacement charger or if we should attempt to repair the exsisting one. It seems to be 8yrs old, brand RDS 36volt charger. Thanks!!!

Charger plug looks like this right?

Cart is dead right?
Get a 12 volt charger and charge 2 batteries at a time until you get around 28volt reading off the whole pack. Batteries are like this right?

See the numbers I have on them they are #'ed like this in all carts from the factory. Check yours to verify. Then any 2 batteries that have the small cable connecting them together can be charged with a 12 volt charger until you reach 28 volts. Once you have done this plug the cart charger back in it should work.

Well if it's a 2000 model that is the charger for it. I don't know what kind you have. Can you post pictures?
It sounds as if your not getting a full charge on the batteries. The lights coming on doesn't mean a lot they have no draw on the pack just 2 of the batteries. Can you hook a voltmeter up to the batteries and run it to see what happens.
You said it's showing 36 volts that is a dead set of batteries in a golfcart. They need to be around 40ish for a fully charged pack.
I'd bet your batteries are dead.

Here are a few photos of what I have. I'm not 100% sure it's a 2000 that's just what I was told when I purchased it. I broke the voltmeter that I was using so I'll get a new one and let you know what it reads.

I'm thinking since the charger is for a Club Car and they have an OBC that plays an integral part of the charging that may be an issue.

I'm just guessing 'tho since I'm not familiar with the Club Car OBC's.

Where is your charger tied in to the batteries?

What are the red & black clips used for that is connected to the one battery?
What ever it is, it's only seeing 6 volts.
