Re: cdi ignition
The ignition system on these buggies is extremely reliable and rarely has a major failure. Having said that, your machine is 30 years old, and parts eventually will wear out and fail no matter how well they were designed and manufactured. The most common problem encountered is loose or corroded connections, with chafed and broken wires a close second. What problems are you having?

Re: cdi ignition
Sounds like you may be replacing a bunch of unnecessary parts. Use the search function, do some reading on this forum to help you diagnose the problems you are having. If you still can't figure it out, post your problems and we will see if we can help.
Voltage regulator, fuel pump, and CDI system have no effect on the engine cranking over. If the engine cranks over in reverse, the starter is OK. To the starter, the only difference in cranking over in forward or reverse is the polarity of the current supplied to it. |

Re: cdi ignition
The voltage regulator only governs the output of the generator to keep the battery charged. It will have no effect on the starter working in reverse, but not in forward. Swap your solenoids and report the results, we will go from there.

Re: cdi ignition
If your engine is turning over in reverse but not forward then you have one or more of three problems.
1: there is a bad connection in the wiring. This may be at the solenoid, on the starter motor, or even the plugs that connect the key switch. Look up the wiring diagram for you cart in the sticky post and make sure that the solenoid is getting voltage on the yellow or blue wire (I cant remember which is forward off the top of my head). 2: you have a bad solenoid. I know you had it checked but ... 3: you have a bad key switch. Once again, look up the wiring diagram for your cart and make sure that the solenoids are wired correctly. |
