95 Medalist Build
I can't thank everyone here enough. Through all the searching and a few questions I was able to fight my way through part of my project. I'm still waiting on the controller, solenoid, and wires to arrive today to complete this build. But here is where I got over the past two weekends.
Picture of the cart from when I got it. Some paint and a new rear seat. Half a lift... And now it's complete.... |

Re: 95 Medalist Build
Krylon Fusion - Black Satin.
It turned out fairly well and has held up extremely well. The secrets are in the prep, and it didn't take that much. In all, I have about $20 in it. Oreily’s has a special on the paint right now Buy one, get one free. I think they had it priced at $6 something a can. So it’s like paying a little over $3 a can. The local “Mart” store has them for right at $5 a can. I cleaned the top with a degreaser, and then rinsed it off with water. Once that dried, I put on a pair of rubber gloves and wiped it down with rubbing alcohol. This took all the dust off of it and kept the oils from my hands off the plastic. With the gloves still on, I hung it from my garage racks with a piece of bailing wire. I went from one of the holes that hold it to the frame up to the support. Then it was a matter of LOTS of lights coats. I don't know the number of coats, but I put on 2 cans of spray paint per side. Then on the final two coats I used one can for both sides. I then let it hang and dry for a couple days. After putting it on I had to touch up a couple spots. The longer it "bakes" the stronger it gets. |
