Look in this thread at the Technician's repair and sevice manual, it will tell you about engine removal.

Okee, well, I couldn't find any instructions on taking the motor out. Any specifics? I want to remove the motor on my 98 EZ GO workhorse.

Disconnect the usual Electrical fuel and air supply. Belts, exhaust and choke cable. Remove starter & put a jack under the motor, then remove 4 bolts under the motor. Lift it out

There are 2 big bolts in the back side of the motor & 2 in the front too, I forgot, down low

Take the 4 out of the bottom ~ drop the skid plate then put the jack and remove the 2 prs front and rear.... hope this helps more than confuses.....

Ultracrazy, don't forget about the linkage rod to the gov. on the rear of the engine. I just roll my starter back and remove the muffler and slip it out. Like Scotty said, remove the 8 bolts holding the engine in. There are 2 in the front and 2 in the back down low. There are 4 underneath goin through the skidplate. Unhook the following: the harness, the pulsar pigtail, the feed and pulse fuel line, the gov. linkage below the muffler, the muffler, the ground under one of the bolt that holds the flywheel cover on (just behind the coil bracket), the starter and drive belt, the choke cable.

Paid $500 for 98 EZGO workhorse.......it's in pretty good shape. The motor is frozen. I figured this would be a good project to work on and learn. Yes? No? What's the worst that could happen.......that I have to take to a dealer and get it replaced?
