Locking/Securing your cart while away

This could apply to any cart but I put it here in the EZGO gas section since that is what I have.

I plan on leaving my cart down at the rivercamp during the summer but I don't have a garage or storage building I can keep it in. I was planing on using the nylon cover and securing/chaining the cart to something that would prevent it from being driven off. We have not had any trouble down there in the years we have had the place but I wanted to make sure my cart was secure.

does anyone have ideas/suggestions on how to lock up the cart to prevent the casual thief from taking it? I was thinking chain and lock at first but in talking with a guy at home depot he said the cable locks are harder to cut that the chains.

If you are talking about the cart in your signature I would run the chain (or cable) Through those wheels to prevent them from being taken.

Another around the axles and thru the suspension?
What's to keep someone from taking parts?

you can get locking lugs for the wheels at the auto parts store, a full cover or tarp that you can secure at the base with cable lock would be good. It's always better if they can't see it. and the cable or chain to lock it off to a tree or something. If someone wants it bad enough they will get it but the more of a pain in the a** it is to take the less likely someone will do it.

Yank the battery and remove the shifter.... Even if they do figure out how to cut the cable, it will be a PITA if it wont run and they will never be able to find neutral.

don't want to be taking the cart everytime I leave. I think I will get the secure lug nuts and get a chain/wire to attach to a tree

This is what I use. It is 20' long. I put it through all four wheels and the frame. I also use it to secure the cart to the trailer when transporting. I bought it at Lowes for around $24.

Also use a 6' version to secure my Porta-Bote and 6hp Suzuki 4 stoke.
