Yamaha Drive - Upgrading Motor & Controller
Have a G29 Yamaha with drive system and the rear of the cart is making a whinding sound. I removed each tire off the rear and inspected each bearing, neither of which are rusted or have bad seals. Now, I know sometimes just because the bearing isn't blatantly obvious or the seals are not busted does not necessarily mean the bearing is not bad. However, I jacked the rear end of the cart up and listened to the noise a little closer as I applied throttle and it definitely sounds "more inner" than the outside. Leading to what I believe is a bad motor bearing (which is a pain to replace and not at all fun to say the least)
So I got to thinking, it's the stock motor anyway and an upgrade across the board is in order. I want to upgrade the motor and the controller and make this thing smoke tires!! Open to any suggestions, guidance, parts, speed upgrades, etc... How fast can it be pushed ? I would like 40mph or better out of it if it's possible. |

Re: Yamaha Drive - Upgrading Motor & Controller
Speed == $$. I would not want to go that fast in my Drive! I dialed mine down to 25 after upgrading. These things are not designed to go fast. I strongly recommend that you add front brakes if you decide to go that fast.

Re: Yamaha Drive - Upgrading Motor & Controller
Going to upgrade the motor and going to upgrade the controller.. I suppose a 500-600amp controller should get me at least 30mph, huh?

Re: Yamaha Drive - Upgrading Motor & Controller
Narrowed down controllers, I think I'm going to go with a Navitas 600-amp G29/Drive Controller Kit - has the knobs for real time adjustment.
I would still like to upgrade from the factory motor to a bigger motor, anyone have suggestions for motor? |

Re: Yamaha Drive - Upgrading Motor & Controller
I would like to buy an AC motor with the upgraded Navitas 600amp controller - anyone know who makes an AC motor that is compatible with the G29 drive setup?

Re: Yamaha Drive - Upgrading Motor & Controller
You would need an AC controller - and an AC motor that has the same 19 spline coupling.
