Default Transaxle Alternative F/R Gearbox

In the recent and distant past I've seen people on the forum building high powered golf carts using 4 stroke golf cart transaxles from donor carts like the EZGO TXT with the ME29 transaxle. These transaxles are very hard to find today, and new ones are over $1000 or more.

Here is an option:

RPM Gearboxes

Pasadena, CA

https://www.rpmgearboxes.com/

They make a F/R gearbox that can either use a sprocket for chain drive input or cvt for a belt drive input. Output to the axles is fixed, no differential, and are made to use Porsche style CV axles, which can be custom cut to length.

If you are building a custom cart with a high hp engine, this might be an option for you. At the very least it's a cool build to follow....

It appears that they are popular in dune buggy type applications, but there is a fellow on YouTube that is building a long travel buggy golf cart and he is using this type of gearbox. Very interesting.

I have emailed the company to see what the price is on the cvt gearbox and to see what secondary clutch it will accept.

So then this would be a possibility for using older 2 cycle and electric carts? Interesting please let us know when you find out pricing.

I think the ME29 is the best deal a 1000 dollars.
