Default Battery question again

I have a 2005 48v club car precedent with (4) 12v battery's. I installed a new pack in March and state of charge has been perfect. I'm in Michigan and keep it stored in a non heated pole barn during the winter. Even though it's stored I charge the battery pack every two weeks and also check water levels. I just noticed after the last charge that my pack didn't get to a full state if charge after rest the next morning when I unplugged the charger. Charger ran its full course. It's been around 20F at night and upper 20's during the day this past week. Now my question is, does cold weather effect the charge rate?

I’m following this as well. I’m in about the same area as you are, and I keep my cart in the garage but it’s not heated. It’s pretty *** cold out there actually

What is the resting voltage of the pack?

If you don’t plan to use the cart until it’s warm, maybe a good idea to just charge it all the way, then remove the batteries and bring them inside. It only takes a few minutes to pull them out or put them back in.

50v. This was three days until I unplugged it and not the next morning. And yes, it's cold out that's for sure.

The pack cannot obtain 100% capacity at 20°F, as that increases a battery's internal resistance, which in turn lowers its capacity. Capacities are usually published at 80°F as the standard, so at 20°F, you are probably lucky to get 70% or so....

Interesting. Does this happen throughout the life of the battery? Another words, as a pack ages would that affect the resistance/capacities more or less?

My experience with my 8 pieces of 6 volt Trojan T-125's is my fully charged stabilized voltage is the same as 32 deg F (0 C) as it is at 72 deg F (22 C) ... absolutely no difference in voltage.

As NoleFan4Ever stated, the capacity of a lead acid pack is reduced substantially at a lower temperature due to a slower chemical reaction rate ... but in my experience, it does not affect the full charge stabilized voltage.

I suspect that you have other issues going on here other than temperature.

You may want to monitor your charger to see if the charging voltages are as per the battery recommended specification.

Could it be the OBC needs to be reset? If so, I'm not sure on the process.

I did find this below. Is this correct and is it worth a shot?

Easily Reset the Club Car Golf Cart OBC
Resetting the OBC must be performed in this order:
Key switch to off
Set forward/reverse to neutral
Put tow/run switch to tow
Disconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery pack
Put the tow/run switch to run
Put forward/reverse switch to reverse
Put key switch to on
Lock the throttle pedal down with a second set of hands or object
The reverse buzzer will sound and go off in approximately 30 seconds
Leave the cart like that for 5 min to cause the OBC to reset

Reconnecting the OBC into the system:
Key switch to off
Set forward/reverse switch to neutral
Put tow/run switch to tow
Reconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery pack

Graph provided by Trojan but other brands of flooded golf cart batteries would be similar. FYI
